Made by luxury watch-strap makers, since 1968.
The Ecoband is not made in a factory. It is made in a family leather laboratory in Piombino Dese, a small town in the Veneto between Padua and Treviso, that has made watch straps, and only watch straps, since 1968. The founder opened the workshop with a rule his heirs still work by: “everything can be done; what matters is that it is done well.” Two generations later, the same family runs the same benches.
The watch strap is the most demanding discipline in small leather goods. A strap lives on a wrist all day, takes sweat and sun, and is judged from thirty centimetres away, so the tolerances forgive nothing: components cut to match exactly, holes placed true, backstitches finished by hand down to the smallest loop. This laboratory has spent more than five decades refining exactly that, from one-off samples to full production runs, for houses whose names you would recognise and that we are not free to repeat. It is why we brought our band here, and not to a production line.
For the Ecoband, nothing about their method changed. Each band is cut from a bio-based Italian material, self-lined, stitched tone on tone and edge-painted by hand, then fitted with its steel clasp, one piece at a time, in small batches. None of it is fast. That is the point: the object a wrist wears every day, made by people who have spent their working lives on nothing else.
How your band is made
Cut
The pattern is pressed by hand, one band at a time.
Stitch
Stitched at the bench, so the seam holds its line under load.
Edge
Painted, dried and burnished in layers until the edge is sealed.
Check
Every band is inspected before it leaves the bench.
