Viridis® is made by Panama Trimmings in Italy. It is not animal leather, and it is not a plastic pretending to be leather. It is a bio-based material worked the way leather is worked: cut with a press knife, stitched, edge-painted, burnished. The artisans who make your band make calfskin straps with the same tools.

No animal material at any stage. PETA-Approved Vegan.
No surface treatment
Most leather-like materials are coated. The coating is what makes them repel water and stains, and it is where PFAS are usually found. PFAS are called forever chemicals because they do not meaningfully break down, in the environment or in the body.
Viridis is a coagulated material, not a coated one. Panama Trimmings confirmed to us in writing that it carries no surface treatments at all. There is no finish layer for those chemicals to live in.

The first two are the ones that matter on a wrist. Colour fastness to perspiration is the test for how a material behaves against sweat on skin, which is what a band worn twenty-four hours a day does for a living. A hundred thousand flexes is the durability answer, measured rather than claimed.
It warms
Silicone stays the same temperature as the room. This does not. It takes on your body heat within a minute and softens with the shape of how you wear it. That is the part nobody can show you in a photograph, and the reason we would rather you touched one.
